Free Webinar: Teaching Students Social, Emotional, & Behavioral Skills

Teaching Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Skills to Improve Student Engagement, Self-Control, and Achievement

[FREE Webinar and EduTalk Interview Below]

This fifteen-session video-course is for administrators, general and special education teachers, related service professionals (counselors, educational/school psychologists, social workers), and other interested educators or clinicians.

The comprehensive course provides specific strategies and steps to implementing an SEL/social skills program-- focused on teaching students specific interpersonal, social problem-solving, conflict prevention and resolution, and emotional control, communication, and coping skills-- at the district, school, classroom (preschool through high school), and student levels. Using the evidence-based (through SAMHSA) Stop & Think Social Skills Program as the anchor to the course, participants learn the science-to-practice approaches to (a) implement an effective, outcome-based schoolwide SEL/PBSS system; (b) teach students social-emotional skills using cognitive-behavioral strategies; and (c) apply this instruction to situations like teasing, bullying, and harassment, and students who present with significant social, emotional, or behavioral (multi-tiered) challenges. The course includes seven social skills demonstration lessons where different social skills are taught to kindergarten through Grade 6, respectively, students. These sessions provide analyses of the instruction, and suggestions for how to teach social skills at different age levels. A Bonus Session discusses how to help parents teach and reinforce school-based social skill instruction at home.
